Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Project Legacy app, the Project Legacy Facility staff app, and this website (together, "Project Legacy"). By creating a login or redeeming a pass you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Project Legacy.
1. What Project Legacy is
Project Legacy is a self-help support tool for households. It prepares routines, stories and short phrases for hard moments, personalized from the names and dates of birth you enter through our quantitative analysis, and plays them in a voice whose owner has consented. It is not medical care, therapy, or an emergency service, and it does not assess, score or predict anything about a child or an adult. Video sessions with an educator are educational. Our statement of what Project Legacy is not is part of these terms.
2. Your household and your logins
- A household is registered to one verified phone number. We refuse a second household on the same number.
- Each adult has their own login. Adults join a household only by invitation from an adult already in it; an invitation works once and expires after 72 hours.
- You are responsible for who you invite and for keeping your login to yourself. Tell us at once if you believe someone else has used it.
- You must be 18 or older to hold a login. Children in a household do not have logins.
3. Plans and billing
- Family is for a household with children. Couples is for a household of two adults. Each is offered monthly or yearly, billed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, and renews until cancelled in your device's subscription settings. Every adult in the household shares the household's plan.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules.
- Where a facility that uses Project Legacy has redeemed a pass for a child in your household, your household is offered the Family plan with the first month free, once. The offer is applied by the app store at purchase.
- Facilities hold a site license: a 60-day pilot at no charge from the day the site is created, then a license for each staff login the site needs, billed monthly or yearly through Stripe to the site's contact; the site chooses its license count and can change it, and passes are unlimited. Passes cannot be redeemed while a site's license has lapsed.
- For iOS users, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
4. Voices and consent
- A voice may be recorded and used only with the express consent of the person whose voice it is, given from their own login. No one can consent on another adult's behalf.
- Consent is recorded against the voice and names the relationship it was given for. It can be withdrawn at any time, and withdrawal takes effect at once.
- You may not use Project Legacy to imitate a person who has not consented, to record a voice that is not yours, or to extract a voice model. Doing so ends your access.
- The staff app never plays a family member's voice; it uses a system voice only.
5. Facility passes
- A parent or guardian generates a pass for a child. A pass carries the child's first name, the caregivers the household has on file, and the parent's morning note, and it expires on its own.
- You are responsible for whom you give a pass to. A pass expires on its own at the end of its window and cannot be redeemed after that.
- Staff use the staff app under their site's own protocol. Project Legacy does not replace that protocol or the staff member's judgment.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Project Legacy to harm, harass or deceive anyone; to enter information about people who are not in your household without their agreement; to probe, overload or interfere with the service; or to copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms.
7. Your content
The names, dates of birth, notes, reflections and recordings you enter stay yours. You grant us the license needed to store them, prepare your household's routines and audio from them, and show them back to your household. How we handle them is described in our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Policy.
8. Our property
The apps, this site, the guidance we prepare, and the software behind them belong to Project Legacy. Your plan gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your household, or for your site's staff, and nothing more.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Project Legacy available and honest about its state: when something is not ready, the app says so rather than substituting something else. We may change or withdraw features, and we may change these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
10. Limitation of liability
Project Legacy is provided as a support tool without a guarantee of any particular outcome. To the fullest extent the law allows, Project Legacy is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of, or inability to use, the service, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your login at any time from the app; the deletion page explains what is removed and what is kept. Deleting a login does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google.
